Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember being in school and waiting for a computer? My students are constantly asking me when it will be their turn. I have two computers in the room but they are extremely slow and one makes too much noise when being used. Your donation will help my students in more than one way!
My students attend a public school in a high poverty area in Houston.
And although they have limited time to use the computers in my class, and I don't have a class iPad for them to use, they absolutely love any chance to use technology. I find they are more engaged and willing to learn when they get their hands on a computer. With that being said, I know that with iPads and Chromebooks in our class they will be excited and anxious to do any type of work on them while learning. They are a culturally diverse group who do not all have iPads or computers at home. I do my best in a short amount of time to expose them to as much as I can. But with only two computers in my class of 21 students I can only do so much.
My Project
I am trying to obtain 4 mini iPads and 2 Chromebooks for our class to use in every way possible. I definitely know that they will come in handy in whatever subject I am teaching whether they are reading, doing math activities, or learning about our solar system or current events. Not only will this get them engaged on the subject matter on a whole other level but they will acquire skills in using technology.
As I have prepared this project I discussed with my class that there is a possibility of us getting these amazing technological resources.
Without a doubt I believe that they will absolutely take advantage of the help and fun that iPads and Chromebooks have to offer. They are beyond excited for me to get the project started and completed. With your help we can make their days a little brighter and help them gain knowledge that will stick with them forever!!!
