This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We have just started the school year, so our days are nowhere near typical yet. With that said, when we do get into the swing of things, I use a document reader, projector, and my laptop during lessons for every subject.
I currently teach third grade.
Our school has a diverse student population. Our students come from different ethnic backgrounds, financial circumstances, and living situations. Our school has a limited amount of technology. Very few of our teachers have items such as document cameras, projectors, or computers in their classrooms. We have quite a few teachers who would love to have more technology in their classrooms.
My Project
I use my document reader and projector on a daily basis. During math, I project a presentation from our new math program that helps me teach the math lesson. During Language Arts, I often use the document reader to go over our spelling and vocabulary words or to work on or correct workbook pages together. I also use my projector to show science PowerPoint presentations. During all subjects, my document reader helps my students take notes in their notebooks. It is so much easier to write on a piece of paper or a copied document and project it than to write on the white board or use an overhead projector and transparencies.
The document camera, case, surge protector, and projector from this project will help me replace my current document reader and projector so I can pass mine on to another teacher at our school that does not have one but wants one.
That teacher will then be able to use the online presentations from our math program as well as have an easier way to present other lessons. In addition, the new projector and document reader that I have requested will be easier for me to use and provide higher resolution projection of documents and presentations.
