Help me give my students the opportunity to go beyond the walls of our classroom and foster 21st century learning with iPads to utilize for enriched learning.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is a safe place in which each child has his/her own unique personality, strengths, weaknesses, and diverse background knowledge. Even though my school is one of the oldest in the city with 120 years of service, it has always been a leading pioneer implementing high-quality educational programs such as the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme for the children in the community. My classroom is a community where we treat each other with respect and learn from our differences. What better way to demonstrate the importance of this than to show how our community -and people around us- are willing to help further their knowledge and education. My students are learning how to be inquirers, independent, knowledgeable and above all caring not only about themselves but are also learning to live and interact in the world around them. As an I.B. World classroom, a day in my first-grade class is full of interesting activities based on the inquiries of 21 six-year-olds. We are always looking for answers either by researching on the Internet, looking into books, asking one another, performing experiments or simply finding out answers by making graphs, charts, etc.
My Project
Every class brings with it its own dynamics and our room we embrace all of our learning differences. The visual, auditory, and kinesthetic- iPad are beneficial for all learners. All of my students love to engage in activities that involve technology. As me move through the years, technology advances in someway or another. I would like to incorporate these iPads in our learning stations. This includes listening to reading on apps, math games, literacy games, researching topics of interest, and even utilizing the resources provided by the district on these iPads. Help me create a classroom with quality materials for quality instruction.
I find it important to pave the way and adequately prepare my students for their future endeavors with the right classroom tools.
