My Project

I am teaching Kindergarten in Sparks, NV. Technology in my classroom is severely lacking. Inadequate technology also makes teaching very difficult because there is a lot of downtime for the current tech and it requires a lot of intervention by me (as the teacher and adult) when my time can be better spent working with students. I have an extensive library of audio books, but the headphones I currently have are incredibly problematic. The cords are easily tangled and they often fray or break. Fixing them takes a lot of time for me to prep before class, as well as troubleshoot during class, so I am looking for a system that limits this issue. Sturdier headphones will solve many of the issues we have currently been facing. I also do not have any extra headphones for students to use when working on the class computers or iPads. I don't want to have to choose between reading and listening to books, or working on one of our computer programs.

When students are able to access technology simply and quickly, without issues, they can spend more time using the technology for its learning purpose than trying to troubleshoot issues beyond their comprehension.

When technological issues arise, students are more likely to get frustrated and refuse to use the technology which limits the benefits from various programs. When technology works and is simple for young students, I (as the teacher) can focus more on the other academic and developmental areas of teaching and less time trying to troubleshoot issues with technology.
