Technology in Journalism

My students need an iPad mini and a protective case to bring their journalistic skills into the new age of journalism.

My Students

My students grab a pen and paper and hit the halls looking for a story. Getting students to interview with them is a hard task. I am hoping with the addition of an iPad mini they can use the tablet to show clips, pictures, etc. to gain reaction and get more quotes.

My students are motivated, hard-working, and eager to make a change.

In our school not all kids realize the importance of journalism and what the school newspaper provides to the school community. Perhaps with the motivated bunch that I have and the addition of technology into the program, kids will be intrigued and want to be part of something exciting.

My Project

I am requesting an iPad mini, so that my students can practice real world journalistic interviewing integrating technology. Students will not only learn to use the device, but gain an advantage with their interviewing skills. Students will have an accessible resource to get a quote or sound bite.

This project is important because my students deserve the tools to create and get better stories from their peers as well as be prepared for real world journalism experiences integrating technology.
