The real struggle faced by our high school students arrives once they get to college. The intensity of math courses are challenging, as they have only had limited exposure when in high school. It is our responsibility to heighten their understanding of math and to prepare them for higher math.
I have taught my freshman students for five months now, and they have withstood the expectations and academic rigor of completing Algebra 1 in their first semester of high school.
We are now taking on a new challenge of completing their second math course within their first year. Our goal is to push our scholars to achieve their core math requirements ahead of schedule. This will allow them the opportunity of taking more AP courses and college-level math during high school. I hope that once they get to college, they will have already seen much of the material. Many of my students want to embark careers in math and science fields when they get older. They are young and still molding, and I want to maintain this interest in math.
My Project
A mobile projector would be invaluable to us. Trigonometry involves a lot of graphs and drawings. With a projector, my students will be able to see and experience mathematical concepts. For example, they will understand deeply the connections between the unit circle and a sine curve with the help of technology. I want my students to be comfortable and confident with math and embrace technology.
A good teacher can work with only a piece of chalk and an idea in order to teach.
A great teacher, however, incorporates technology and resources to enrich students’ lives and inspire their minds. I want my students to achieve greatness, and I feel that a projector will assist in delivering my lessons more effectively.
I thank you in advance, and anticipate a favorable response to my request.
