My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, I teach students who are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. This year especially I know that they are going through so much more that is completely out of their control. Having experienced Hurricane Harvey, many of them are still out of their homes.
My students need working, kid-friendly tablets in their language arts centers so they can take advantage of the technology that can be at their fingertips.
They love to learn and they enjoy exploring new things. Kindergartners still have difficulty using the desktop computers because of the different log-ins they have to go through to get started, and tablets would be an easy way take care of the problem.
My Project
My students will benefit from using these tablets in our language arts center because they will have access to children's websites at their fingertips.
Young minds need to also explore the technology around them; we should maximize their time with technology and provide them with tablets.
When entering passwords and user IDs, little ones get overwhelmed and often rely on the adults to come over and help. Why not put technology at their fingertips and maximize the time they have to explore? Learning apps will simply be a click away and as a result the students will gain more from using them.
