This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

So, now that my 5th graders have a computer center, they need educational software to help guide their own learning!

My students come to school with a willingness to learn and are proud to be part of such an exceptional school.

I teach at a charter school that is filled with amazing parents and faculty who are always willing to help me help my students achieve. The school is fairly new and is in desperate need of resources for differentiated instruction. Everyday, 27 students walk into a 5th grade classroom eager and thirsty for knowledge. I want my students to have access to the necessary resources in order for them to thrive and continue a lifelong love for learning.

My Project

How can technology enhance curriculum? The resources that I am requesting for my students will allow me to provide differentiated instruction through technology. My students will learn to increase their fluency, comprehension, and test-taking strategies through CD-ROM games. The Math CD-ROM games are filled with below, at level, and enrichment levels to meet the needs of all my students. Also, the games provide pre and post assessment opportunities to show students growth over time and what skills need to be reinforced. Not only will my students learn at their own pace and level, but they will feel proud and successful when they reach their academic goals. In addition, I will be able to pull small groups and differentiate my instruction to integrate technology skills in order to meet the needs of every student I teach. In order for my students to succeed, my students need different ways to learn in order to achieve academically.

The impact that this project will have on my current and future students will provide a plethora of ways to keep students engaged, on-task, accountable for their own learning, and ease the frustrations students may have who are unable to keep up with the rest of their classmates.

In addition, the students who need enrichment will be challenged to guide their own learning to compete on a national level.
