This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic, fun-loving, and resilient kids! They come from low-income households and have not had much experience outside of their neighborhoods. Despite the hardships of our school closure, they are still excited to learn online!

My students and I have embarked on the journey of distance learning.

This has not been an easy task since many of my students do not have easy access to the internet or hotspots. Many of my students depend on worksheet packets and whatever materials they have at home. Despite the many hardships that most of them face, they are eager to work and learn from home!

My Project

I never imagined that I would find myself remotely teaching from home and that my students would be learning new material through video conferencing calls and recorded home videos. We are charging forward and looking at it as a learning opportunity for all!

My students have been resilient and working incredibly hard during the time of COVID.

The whiteboard easel included in this project would serve as a tool that I can use during Zoom meetings to go over material easily, and to display anchor charts during recorded lessons. For example, in third grade we learn about fractions. I will be able to write fractions and draw what each fraction looks like for students to better understand the concept. I will also be able to use it with future classes in the classroom during carpet time work or in small group.

The noise canceling headphones will help my students hear me more clearly, and not get distracted by any background noise. The ring light with the tripod stand will allow better lighting for my students to see all of the work I am sharing with them on the whiteboard more easily. For example, when I am sharing a chart on Native Americans during social studies, my students will be able to clearly see the chart with the ring light.
