We are a K-5 elementary school. There are approximately 650 students who attend our school. Close to 61% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. One goal on our School Improvement Plan is to expose our students to more STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) programs. As the technology facilitator it is my goal to do just that. It is also my goal to continue to foster and grow our student's love and curiosity of the world around them. In a digital age, where technology is at the forefront of learning, it is imperative that our students have countless opportunities to experience the world they live in through technology.
My Project
The students at my school would use the Amazon Echo, Ozobot Kits and Sphero Robotic Balls to explore computer programing and robotics through a variety of hands-on interactive learning centers. Two year ago the students at my school were fortunate to receive a grant for droids. They have utilized those in centers for the last two years and they absolutely love them! With the requested materials the students could have three new and unique centers in my classroom to help them tap into their inner inventor and explorer. There are countless ways that the students could use the three resources in the centers. They could design a vehicle for the mini robots to drive or paint a masterpiece with the robots, they could program the Ozobot to navigate through a maze and design their name or they could ask Alexa to tell them a story and digitally illustrate the story sequence. The possibilities are truly endless. With your help we can unlock a digital world that has no boundaries. This technology is for Today's Learners and Tomorrow's Leaders.
