My Students

My students come from a high-poverty low-income community. They live in the poorest county of New Jersey. Some of my students' parents work 2-3 jobs to take care of the bare necessities of everyday life. While their parents want the very best for them, the extra things in life may not be able to be provided. About 75% of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch and cannot readily afford materials to help enhance their education.

My students have faced many challenges in their young lives where school tends to be their only constant.

In our Kindergarten classroom, we like to keep things exciting. There are a lot of important skills that my kindergartners need to master before they are ready for 1st grade. They love working with each other and learning new things!

My Project

These Chromebooks will be used to create an engaging and motivating learning environment. Students will use them to enhance literacy skills using programs such as ABC Mouse and Starfall, listen to reading stories, interactive math programs, keyboarding skills, and offer them the chance to gain independence.

In order for my students to be successful in today's society, they must learn to be technologically savvy.

Due to the lack of technology resources within my school, I am afraid my students will be at a disadvantage. It is vital for my students to stay connected, engaged, and motivated which can be achieved through these tablets.
