I teach a half-day Pre-K program with 22 kids in the morning and 22 new kids in the afternoon. I have a multitude of skills to teach in a short amount of time. This means I have to make all moments of our day not only engaging, but educational.
My students learn best when they are introduced to skills with hands-on materials and then are given the opportunity to work with the skill in a multitude of different ways.
We have many different learning styles in our classroom and I like to provide children with the opportunities to not only work in areas that they feel the most comfortable, but also to step outside of their comfort zone on occasion and try new things.
My Project
Our Early Childhood hallway will soon be getting multiple iPads thanks to a district grant. I am excited to provide this type of technology experiences in our classroom. However, I am committed to making sure I provide a different type of experience then they can typically get from an iPad. I want to ensure that they are involved in an active learning experience rather than simply being zoned out on a device. This grant will allow me to provide a small group learning experience that the kids will grow to see as one of their favorites.
Square Panda is developmentally appropriate and an interactive option that will keep my students actively engaged.
With the Square Panda device, the students will primarily work with letters and letter sounds. We will use these devices to bring our letter learning to life during our Table Work time. Thank you for considering to help bring this new learning opportunity to our room.
