My Students
I teach second grade at a Title I school in Grand Prairie, Texas. I have a great diversity of students that bring joy and light into our classroom on a daily basis, despite the obstacles they face.
With this great diversity comes a great diversity in ability level.
By engaging with Donors Choose I hope to be able to provide more differentiated and individualized learning experiences for my students.
As a second year teacher I have just begun my collection of supplies that are needed to be successful in teaching my scholars and I appreciate any support!
My Project
My classroom of 24 scholars currently has 6 laptops that work unreliably. I would love to provide scholars with more opportunities to engage with technology! I hope to use these laptops in reading and math centers as well as to encourage research skills during our writing lessons. This past month we have been researching historical figures of the scholars' choosing and we have been limited by our access to technology! I want to help scholars understand the wealth of knowledge that exists for them through technology and how to responsibly use this technology.
While many students from more privileged backgrounds have access to technology at home, many of my students do not have electronics or reliable internet at home.
This only serves to widen the gap that SES has already created for our Title I scholars. Additionally, for my special learners, technology is a great way to give the additional help and support they need!
