I teach all general education subjects to third graders. My school has students from all socioeconomic statuses. My students come to school every day very eager to learn. In my classroom, I strive to come up with various ways to make learning fun and exciting for my students. Many of my students are facing obstacles at home, but they always come to class and give 100%.
My students also vary in their educational needs.
I have many students with IEPs and many students in the gifted program. I try to make my classroom as inviting and fun as possible for my students. I feel that students are able to learn better when placed in a loving and fun environment. I realize many students may be facing challenges at home, and I want them to feel comfortable and safe in my classroom.
My Project
My students would greatly benefit from having an iPad in our classroom. Currently, the only technology in my classroom is a few desktop computers. Sometimes, not all of these computers are in working condition. This makes it difficult when trying to complete small group reading and math assignments. We have a laptop cart, but most of the laptops do not work or are missing keys. At my school, we have many students who come from low-income families and do not have the chance to learn with this technology at home.
I would use this iPad in my classroom to help with STEM projects, small reading and math instruction as well as group projects completed in the classroom.
I would love to be able to provide this great opportunity for my students. I always teach my students to respect our materials used in the classroom. I know my students would greatly appreciate and take care of our classroom iPad.
