My Students
As a teacher in a Hurricane Harvey impacted community, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.
Many of my students have been displaced from their homes and classrooms due to the damaging flood waters of Hurricane Harvery.
Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. Our 5th grade class consists of 136 children from a small, rural community in Southeast Texas. They are a creative, fun loving group of students with a strong desire to learn.
My Project
My students need Chromebooks in our classroom to practice fundamental reading and writing skills through the use of engaging programs such as Google Classroom, Moby Max, Education Galaxy, etc... that can only be accessed through computers or other smart devices.
Chromebooks offer a great alternative to traditional learning, and students get excited when they get to learn new skills using them!
Chromebooks will also allow for differentiation needs in our classroom by allowing early finishing students to complete extension activities, typing writing pieces rather than handwriting them, researching topics in the classroom, and allowing students to build fluency by reading along with books online.
