My students need the ability to express themselves. Unfortunately for them, it can be difficult to communicate verbally, but they show an incredible amount of social, emotional, and academic gains through technology.

My Students
I am a middle school special education teacher. All our students are diagnosed with Autism. Our school is located within a community public school. Our students benefit from multi-sensory approaches.
Our students have a wide-variety of academic, emotional, and social needs.
They can benefit from lessons that are engaging and differentiated based upon skill level. Our students range from low functioning to high functioning. They communicate through picture exchange communication system (PECS), visuals, assistive technology, and expressive language as well as receptive language.
My Project
I was already given an amazing donation for 4 iPads for my class. I have already seen what this technology has done for them. They love interacting with lessons, making presentation, taking videos and photos, playing music, learning about themselves and one another. I have realized the opportunities are endless when you give my students the freedom to explore and that’s exactly what these iPads have done for them and will continue to do.
I need a set of 6 iPads to complete my classroom, so that each of them have the same opportunity for success.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
