In my classroom and at my school, all students are given the opportunity to learn in the same setting regardless of ability or background. The students are engaged and excited to learn in an environment surrounded by a diverse set of peers - from different cultures with different learning styles.
The inclusive environment allows all students to grow and become not only excellent students, but also incredible human beings.
There are students with different learning and physical abilities thriving and creating meaningful friendships with typically developing students. These students are students of the world and the future.
My Project
This year we have increased our use of technology and started the 5th graders on the Google suite. Currently, our lack of technology means students have less time to work on their large composition pieces in class. These 5 more laptops would mean we could have centers where 10 students at a time (one third of the class) is able to work on any online assignments. This will increase the success of all the students in the class.
Additionally, in our class we have many students for which handwriting is difficult and leads to frustration, these computers will help lessen the frustration and lead to more success on longer assignments.
We hope that we can increase engagement by using technology more meaningfully. There are so many resources available and we could really increase engagement with the use of technology. There is a whole world out there waiting for these students.
