My Project
I am requesting a new MacBook to use for my students. My students are preschoolers in special education classes who have various diagnoses such as autism, down syndrome, receptive and expressive language disorders. Many of my students are non-speaking. A new computer will allow me to create low-tech communication boards, visual supports, handouts, and interactive books in order to help my students learn and communicate. It will give my students access to adaptive learning experiences to enhance their education and participation in the classroom and during therapy sessions. A new computer will also help me communicate with my students’ parents, collect data and monitor progress, write progress reports and IEPs, as well as attend and participate in various professional development opportunities. A new computer will assist me in providing the best possible treatment for my students with speech and language disorders.
