Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our Students have autism and they are all eager to learn computer skills. Our classroom has two old desktops that do not always work. I want to give my students important skills that will improve their quality of life.
Our students have autism.
They are smart, loving, caring, enthusiastic children, with a passion for learning. Children with special needs face many challenges in their daily lives. I have high expectations for my students, and my primary goal is to teach them to be as independent as possible. While providing them with basic skills that will help them in life after high school. By exposing and teaching our students computer skills, we are preparing them for the future, and giving them a voice. My students continue to exceed my expectations on a daily basis. They are hungry for technology and want to explore our world.
My Project
My students will be able to use educational programs, such as Unique Learning Systems, Vizzle, and A-Z learning to Read. Many of my students have difficulty using traditional writing tools and a laptop will provide them with an alternative way to complete their writing tasks. I am currently not able to provide full access to these educational websites to my students, because of our outdated computers. In addition, I will be able to monitor students' progress and assess the data on a weekly, and monthly basis.
Finally, as a teacher will be able to use the laptop to communicate with parents via email, record student progress, provide access to literacy, and create interactive lessons to enhance students learning.
Your donations will enhance our students quality of life in the classroom and prepare them with basic essential computer skills.
Students with autism often have difficulty working independently. With a classroom laptop they will be motivated, engaged and will be capable of completing their work. My students would be thrilled to have access to technology in our classroom.
