Ms. Dimanche from Miami FL is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students tablets to help them advance in the technology world and find success with their academics.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students are diverse from different backgrounds. They are all in the special education program due to their exceptionalities. They are from very low social economic homes. Many of my students don't have a computer at home to help them with their academic work. At my school we use the i-ready program which really helps the students attain their academic goals.
None of my students are working on grade-level in reading and mathematics.
They are two grade level or more below. My goal is to have the necessary tools to help them succeed and progress in their academics, especially in reading and mathematics.
Due to the facts that many of my students don't have access to technology to help them advance with their academics, having these tablets will provide opportunity for them to do their online lessons. I do have some desktops in my classroom, however they are not enough for all of my students.
If we can get some extra tablets, our day will be more productive by getting more work done online with more students being able to have access online.
My students use i-ready, reflex math, sum dog and many other apps that they have available in their students' portals to help them progress in their academics. Studies have showed that the students that actually do their i-ready lessons with a passing rate have a higher rate in doing well in the state exams.
I want for all of my students to access i-ready daily whether they don't have access to technology at home. I want to make sure they don't lag behind even more because of their home situation. My students have Specific Learning Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Other Health Impaired, Language Impaired.
Thank you in advance for supporting my students.
