My Students
Communication skills form a foundation for just about everything we do in this life. We need to be able to communicate effectively to be successful in this world. My students have difficulties communicating with others.
I am a speech language pathologist who works with students ranging from preschool through 6th grade students at a Title 1 school, as well as high school age.
The students I work with have difficulties with articulation, speech fluency, phonological processes, expressive and receptive language. I also work with students with Autism, Intellectual disabilities, and other disorders that interfere with their abilities to communicate with their peers and teachers.
My Project
Having access to iPads in speech-language therapy greatly improves students motivation to learn. There are a great number of educational applications that are fun, innovative, and interactive that will help my students improve their communication skills. I have several nonverbal students that would greatly benefit from the use of augmentative/alternative commutation (AAC) that allow them to talk by touching a button to express their wants and needs. This technology would greatly enhance my students lives.
Being able to communicate with others in our society is so crucial.
New technology allows us to motivate and greatly enhance our therapy for students, getting them excited to practice their speech and language skills. My students would greatly benefit from this technology.
