My students need 4 iPads with cases for our technology rotation for our reading centers. The iPads will be used to help integrate technology into our learning.
When my students enter my classroom, they are encouraged to be the best that they can be. They are encouraged to step outside of their comfort zone and to try new things. I do my best on a daily basis to ensure that my students know that they are loved and supported by me.
My students are fun, eager and ambitious.
This year I have tried to integrate technology throughout all of my classes. My students have worked and are working really hard to use technology in a safe and appropriate way. I have noticed when they use technology, they are more involved in the activity/lesson. Our ability to use technology throughout the day is limited due to the amount of technology available. We have to share 5 iPads across 4 classes which makes it difficult to be consistent. All student needs here are met by the integration of the STEM model, differentiation of learner aptitudes, and incorporation of the Systems Approach to Learning. My school is a unique and exceptional school for a variety of reasons. In a school district comprised of thirty-eight schools, ours is one of two schools with a focus on STEM education and is the only STEM focused school in the region.
My Project
My students need 4 iPads for our technology rotation for our reading centers. The iPads will be used to help integrate technology into our learning. During our Language Arts block, 3 days a week, I incorporate 40 minutes dedicated to reading centers. In these reading centers students work on assigned tasks to reinforce focus skills that we are working on. One of the rotations is set up specifically for technology. We have purchased an online magazine resource for students to use to improve and enhance reading skills. This magazine provides students will current issues and events written at their reading level. The iPads will be used to access these online resources through their app. Having the ability to use the app instead of logging in online through class computers, allows the students more time to focus on the reading skills. The iPads will also be used to do research to write reports. We also need cases for the iPads to protect them from being damaged or scratched.
Due to budget cuts, money that can be used for technology has been taken away.
Capital for classroom supplies has also decreased. Students are required to complete state testing on the computer. Having this technology will help my students become more technologically proficient. Being able access technology on a daily basis will help them when taking the state tests. For example, in our reading centers, they have to read and answers questions about the story on the iPad.
