This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Did you ever start surfing the net, searching for information about a specific topic, and get absorbed by the myriad of knowledge and interesting facts you found? I would like my students to experience this exhilaration and be part of the 21st century.

My students are very smart and intelligent young boys and girls.

They come from low socioeconomic neighborhoods. A full 100% of my students get free breakfast and lunch. My students are eager and enthusiastic to learn about the outside world. Unfortunately, most of them do not have computers or even access to the Internet in their households. They are continuously inquisitive, and they are filled with zeal for acquiring more information.

My Project

The learning experience in this time and age must include the use of technology. There is a myriad of interactive learning styles which can be beneficial to my students' different learning practices. Our Language Arts publisher has a dedicated link on a website which allows more practice on every lesson in their textbooks. The games are targeted to specific skills and standards. My students need a laptop. A laptop will be used by students who need extra practice or students who need to be challenged with extra activities. We also have an interactive math program that requires a computer to use it, and I am hoping that my students will be able to use this computer to practice both Language Arts and Math skills.

Purchasing this computer for my classroom will expose my students to a variety of interactive information and will provide extra practice for them in both Language Arts and Math.

This is an opportunity that might not be available for them except for a few minutes daily in their classroom.
