Technology for Music
My students need an iPad, more technology for a music class garage band.
My students mostly come from working families, with both parents working to make ends meet. We have about 45% of students on free and reduced price lunch. Because of the challenges of having both parents working full-time jobs, most students can't afford extra activities after school.
I teach over 670 elementary students at a public school.
Most students have one computer at home. A lot of my students do not have access to current technology like iPads or tablets of any sort. A majority of the music industry is using this technology, why shouldn't we. I would like to provide them with that experience at school.
Imagine coming to music class and creating your own song with drums, guitar, violins, bass, and vocals. Imagine making a video of yourself singing a song that you have been working on in music class and then evaluating how you did. Imagine working together with other students on a project where you produce, record and then market your own song. My students could do that in my class with an iPad.
With your help I can provide learning experiences for my students that will carry over into the future and prepare them for the 21 century workplace.
