Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A typical day in Prek is doing music and movement with songs and rhymes. The students work in child centered games and workstations. They are also doing independent practice with writing, drawing, etc.
My classroom is mainly 4 and 5 year olds as well some special education students in PreK.
The majority of my classroom are ESL students. My students are students that need a lot of exposure to technology. They are very fast learners and always wanting to learn everyday. Our campus is is about 85% ESL students and low income with free or reduced lunch.
My Project
The activities with the Ipads that will be embedded will be geared towards workstations, assessments, and whole group lessons. These activities will enhance their letter and sound knowledge as well as the interest of online books. The assessments that will be given will give us data on our kids progress throughout the school.
It will make a difference in my classroom by enhancing their technology skills and also with hand and eye coordination.
I want to give them the foundation they need to take with them to the next grade level. This project will give my students the opportunity to be more technology literate and development those skills. The programs we choose to expose them will help their literacy skills, phonemic awareness as well as oral development.
