I teach 4th grade at a neighborhood school that is filled with many students who walk or ride their bikes to school. Many of my students already know each other, so it is easy to create a sense of community. My class is filled with students who are excited about learning and understand that hard work pays off. They love hands-on learning and real-life applications to the concepts we are covering in class.
My Project
I would like to have an updated ipad to use in my classroom in order to engage my students in more interactive lessons. I am planning to use the ipad and pencil to to teach from various locations in my classroom. This mobility will allow me to take pictures of student work and easily project it, to show my students exceptional example of their peer's work. This practice increases learning among students because they can sometimes understand better when a fellow student explains the problem solving process. This mobility will also allow me to hand the tablet and pencil to students in order for them to share their learning with peers, this will make the learning more concrete for students. The mobility I will have will also increase student learning as I will be able to provide immediate feedback on their work because I can easily move around the classroom while I'm teaching. I'm excited to use this technology to interact with students instead of being tethered to my desk.
