My Project
Every year, I have a diverse group of learners with unique academic and pedagogical needs. Given the panoply of learning styles and neurotypes in the world, I'm convinced this will continue to be the case as my career progresses.
I've found that using technology to integrate artistic disciplines in my ELA classroom to be particularly fruitful when teaching reading and writing.
When my students answer text dependent questions, they can pick from a panoply of modalities to show their thinking.
For example, some students might choose to write a summary to show understanding of a text. Others might draw pictures or compose a song. I've found that quick and easy to use technology like the Kindle Fire are the perfect vehicle to achieve this differentiation and opportunity for student choice.
