My Project
In our school, we currently use technology daily during the instructional blocks for all content areas. As a teacher, I teach the class using a smart board and my laptop. However, I service several students with both cognitive and developmental disabilities who get left behind because of their disabilities. Integrated technology will give my students the opportunity to demonstrate a further understanding of simple and complex content during the Math and Science blocks. The technology components allow for text-to-speech, tools that allow larger print, annotations, and graphics that grasp their attention. The students use technology on a daily basis to help with completing assignments and to follow along with instructions. We are striving to have a technology center in the classroom that can provide support for several students in one setting. Students will have the opportunity to engage in learning experiences that will help increase cognitive skills, communication skills, and developmental circumstances that have put them at risk for performing much lower than their peers who are the same age and grade level.
