My Students
As a special education teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my elementary students have many challenges in and out of the classroom. Many of them receive a free breakfast and lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These challenges can hold students back so I do whatever I can to give them every advantage I can. I am looking to provide my students with meaningful learning experiences.
My students are excited about learning and they always try their best, despite their disabilities.
The reading and math skills that come easily to other students are difficult for my students with special needs to acquire. They require lots of repetition before they master a skill. This can make learning boring for them and discourage them from continuing. I have to find fun and different ways for my students to practice.
My Project
I currently have two desktop computers for students to use, but these computers are older and often don't work when I need them to. Students would be able to use the Chromebooks to practice their reading, writing, and math skills. The computers would provide them with fun, interactive ways to learn these skills. There is plethora of educational sites that would be available to them on the Chromebooks. The headphones will help to keep the noise level of the computer down so no one will be disrupted. With the wireless mouse the students will have the option of using the mouse or the pad on the computer. Students can choose which works best for them.
The donations from the generous donors will help to improve my students' learning and their independence.
They will feel more confident about themselves. The students will be able to have access to more knowledge and will be able to better themselves.
