This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 24 wonderful 1st and 2nd graders from a poor area. They are so excited to see wonderful technology. But in my school all of the fun technology is only purchased for the older grades. Help my students get the same opportunities as their older brothers and sisters.
My students are from a poor neighborhood in the Bay Area of California.
My students come from families that struggle, but they are always excited to come to school and learn something new. Almost all of my students are English Language Learners. Not only are they trying to learn the normal school subjects, but they are also trying to learn English at the same time. My school has recently become a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math focused school. But the wonderful technology that could improve my classroom is only purchased for the older grades.
My Project
My students would benefit so much from a Mimio Teach Board. This device is so amazing because it doesn't need the huge, mounted board that interactive white boards do. The Mimio mounts with magnets to my current white board. The Mimio will allow me to project images for my students. My students can come and write on the white board. The Mimio will record and project their movements. I can then save the images so that we can bring them up later. Think of how wonderful it would be to be able to pull up an image from last week! No more asking the kids if they remember, I can show them to help immediately. I can also interact with computer images and games.
The Mimio will revolutionize my classroom and help my students learn.
Their education and technological skills will increase. I know that all of my students will jump at the chance to show what they know on the Mimio.
