Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are some of the most creative, inspiring, ambitious young people I have had the privilege to work with. They educate me as much as I teach them the skills they will need to excel in college, career, and beyond.
While we are surrounded by technology, I find that one of the most crucial places and indeed the place where students should have direct access to and ability to engage with technology is the classroom where there is adult supervision and guidance.
Sadly, the classroom is the last place where technology exists, or where it works seamlessly. Often, I find that my students rely on their phones to complete work for class, conduct research, and work on college applications.
Having working devices in the classroom will allow my students to be full members of the 21st century citizens who rely on technology to find out answers to their everyday questions, feed their curiousity, learn something new, create art and fashion designs, connect with the world at large in meaningful ways.
I would love to be able to direct a student to a tablet readily available in class to search something up, to go on a quest, to complete an assessment, or to simply have a quiet place to complete the homework assignment on a screen not relegated to the palm of their hand.
