My Students

I work in a Title I school with a large (approximately 30%) English Language Learner (ELL) population. We are desperately in need of updated technology to assist in implementing some new, computer based reading instruction.

My students are enthusiastic, 21st century learners, that respond enthusiastically to technology.

I am a firm believer in getting the most bang for my buck, if I can use technology to trick kids into learning, I need better technology! It has been wonderful to see their excitement about the new programs, I am hoping to sustain that enthusiasm.

My Project

I recently received 3 Chromebooks from DonorsChoose. They have been a huge hit in my classroom. We have just gotten some new computer based reading and math programs that the kids are very excited about. I am hoping to give as many kids as possible access to these programs during our intervention times. The Kindle's are mobile and the kids can use them anywhere in the room and make it easier for me to give assistance. The cases will help keep the Kindle's safe and the headphones will lessen any disruptions.

I want my students to be comfortable in their learning environment.

The mobility of the Kindles can help students find a comfortable place to work, with fewer distractions.
