My students need tablets for our independent reading and math centers. These tablets will allow students to practice math facts, listen to stories, play interactive games, and research information!

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located in East New York, Brooklyn and serves Pre-K to 5th grade. The majority of young learners at our New York City school receive free and reduced lunch. Our first-grade class is made up of 21 goofy, kind, and bright students who come from mostly bilingual homes.

Not only are the students exciting to be around, they are also the most hardworking first graders who act daily as change-makers, bringing a multicultural lens into the classroom.

As their teacher, I strive every day to motivate my students to achieve their highest potential through music and imagination!

My Project

Currently my classroom has 3 desktop computers. With 21 students, it is rare that every student has a chance to interact with technology, independently, throughout the school day. By supporting this project my first graders will become exposed to a new kind of learning.

Not only will the tablet reinforce new information, it will help my students strengthen their skills.

For example, they can practice their math facts and play games to build on the concepts we've been learning whole group.

In reading students can use their Fire Tablets to listen to stories and follow along. Later, they will answer comprehension questions to strengthen their language and literacy skills.

I'm positive these will impact my students in more ways than one!
