Technology Enhances Special Education Student's Remote Learning!

Help me give my students the best remote learning instruction possible with technology that handles videos, audio and graphics at a faster speed.

My Students

My students are sixth to eighth graders with exceptional needs in an urban, public, neighborhood school in the third largest district in the country. My school had been on academic warning status with the state for 12 years due to low test scores. I am proud to say, these past 2 years, we have done it! My school is officially a level 1 school. The school averages in the 53rd percentile in reading and in the 44th percentile in math compared to the national average. My school enrolls 348 students in an old building that can hold 750.

Due to the COVID-19, my diverse learners are learning from home and I am teaching them remotely.

My student's need technological support and I require a fast laptop with a large storage space to present audio, video & graphics. Please help me help them continue their learning at home and tailor to each of their learning styles. My school community is 100% African American and 96% low income. Students live within the school boundaries. My students have learning disabilities with audio and visual learning styles. Despite their disabilities, my students are strong and persevere. They are eager to continue their learning.

My Project

This laptop will allow me to enhance the remote learning instruction for my Special Education Students. The learning styles of my students include auditory and visual. With this laptop I will be able to present graphics for mathematical problem solving. For reading, this laptop will allow me to enhance audio and video presentations.

Special Education Students need remote learning to be similar to in class learning as much as possible.

My students academic levels are significantly below grade level. Due to Covid19 they are forced to learn from home. Help me provide instruction with the technology that meets their needs.
