Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come in everyday with a wonderful spirit for learning! My third grade group is composed of about 24 students that come from all kinds of backgrounds located in a school community surrounded by so many challenges.
Although their short lives have been met with challenges like being raised by single family homes, homelessness, gang violence, and extreme poverty, they come to school ready and eager to learn.
The school I work for is a Title 1 school where 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. They also bring their own talents and dreams of making the world that surrounds them a wonderful place to be one day! School is a new and exciting place to be!
My Project
Technology today is everywhere! Unfortunately, our classroom currently has 2 outdated Apple computers that frequently breakdown. I serve 24 students in my class daily that have access to a computer lab ONCE A WEEK! It is an absolute challenge to have students keep up with technology at this pace!
I would love for my students to have small group access to Chromebooks daily!
I would have them rotate so they could research, type their essays using Google Docs, and learn to use technology for more than just games. Now we have so many educational websites that would facilitate learning and practice new material in an exciting way!
