My Students
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to know I believe in themselves the way I do. The students in my classroom are students with various learning and emotional disabilities. On top of educational and emotional disabilities, many of them have experienced trauma in their lives and have difficulty coming to school.
With that being said, how can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed?
The typical student in my class reads below grade level and many struggle with basic phonics and number sense.
My Project
We recently received some iPads and Chromebooks for our class. This is very exciting for our students to be able to incorporate technology into their learning. The iPads and Chromebooks will be use to enhance individual student learning as well as for group based projects.
BUT, we can't do that if iPads and Chromebooks are not charged!
With limited outlets in the classroom for charging, we often struggle to have our technology ready to use. This charging cart also allows the staff to lock the door, keeping our technology safe. Giving low-income students access to technology is an investment in their future.
