This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergarten students need every educational opportunity available to encourage learning. Technology is the way to motivate them.
My students are fun and energetic five and six year olds.
Most are experiencing going to school for the very first time. They get excited when the opportunity to do or use something "new" comes along. My students attend school in California and they are considered to be economically challenged and receive free lunch.
My Project
My students need a Nook eReader to create a technology center in our classroom. The Nook will greatly have an impact on motivating my students to practice many kindergarten skills, like math and language arts, through various apps and books. This will inspire them to learn at their individual instructional level. This will especially help my struggling students who don't have motivation or confidence. Their engagement and enthusiasm in school will increase dramatically by utilizing technology. I know they will be excited to access apps and books, like Disney books on the Nook.
With the use of the Nook, students will be motivated to learn even more.
