This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hello, My name is Mr. Gonzalez. My classroom this year is very diverse. I currently service 28 students of all different backgrounds, including Hispanic, Armenian and African American. I currently have 12 English Language Learners. Some have been in the country less than a year and do not speak a word of English. I have 5 students that receive specialized instruction in our Resource Classroom. I tend to use many graphic organizers, movies, pictures, realia, etc. to enhance their understanding and tap into their background knowledge. My students are also struggling readers, with only one student reading at a path to college ready level. I would like to give these students a fighting chance to read at grade level.

My Project

This computer will make a great difference in students' learning. The school has purchased new technology in the form of a Chromebook cart for the students, but failed to upgrade ours. I have a computer about the same age as my students (10 years old). My computer is no longer able to be updated. Therefore, we cannot access the new online tools in our core curriculum subjects.

Technology is a luxury that I want my students to have.

My students will be able to access online readers, assignments, assessments, and take virtual field trips. They will also be able to access their background knowledge in the form of pictures and videos. I do not have that capability because when I take my computer home it often freezes or it is not compatible to read updated versions of our curriculum. I want to work freely from anywhere and allow my students to access all materials in their entirety.

This donation will maximize student learning as I would be able to bring the world to them!!
