Mr. Schnitzer from Houston TX is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need 4 new iPads in order to capitalize on the vast educational opportunities that technology offers burgeoning young minds.

Help us help these children go places they never dreamed possible. These iPads will allow them to take one more step towards that dream by giving them the ability to explore math and science through reliable technology both in school and at home.
Proficiency in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) is necessary for students to be successful in their future careers.
Yet, currently my students' exposure to technology consists of shared access to two Computers that are older than they are and unusably slow. My scientists and mathematicians attend a large, public elementary school in a big Texas city. Because our district does not provide transportation to students living within two miles of school, many of my fourth grade students walk to and from school including crossing major intersections. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and educational experiences. However, the vast majority of my students are at least one and a half years behind in math and science proficiency.
The Internet offers countless, free resources that students can use to master a skill they have struggled on as well as activities to stretch the knowledge of those who are searching for more. Technology is required to do this. By adding 4 iPads to our classroom, students will be able to rotate through a computer station everyday. Our school district has a brand new Math adoption this year. A large part of this resource has an online component which allows struggling students online remediation complete with an online coach. It also allows more advanced students the use of online enrichment activities. In order for my students to maximize the use of these resources, I need as many of them to have online access as possible. We also have a new science adoption this year. It to has a large online footprint. One of the most amazing components of this resource is the virtual lab. Students can participate in online labs in work stations or at home. What a terrific academic opportunity!
My students see technology everyday and yet rarely get to experience it first hand.
They currently go to the computer lab twice a month, but are expected to compete in a world where computer literacy is required daily if not hourly. Most of my students do not have any computer access at home, so their only opportunity to become proficient technologists is by using the technology in my classroom. This technology will take my students to academic levels that they never thought possible.
