My students need three 7" tablets with cases in order to effectively read literature in small groups. They will be able to listen to and follow along as needed when reading any form of literature.

My Students
My students attend the oldest elementary school in the nation, but our school often struggles to provide necessary supplies and classroom materials due to yearly budget cuts. My 4th graders come to my classroom with a diverse range of needs, challenges and experiences. Many of my students lack access to innovative, updated technology
My students are mainly African American, Vietnamese, and from the island of Cape Verde.
They understand that technology is all around them. Many of my students are accustomed to only using cellphones (at home) to play games. These dynamic students need help and encouragement in learning to use technology for educational purposes such as to read.
My Project
My 4th grade reading groups will buddy read chapter books. They will gather during Reader's Workshop and listen to, as well as read along with different kinds of literature. They will be able to pause and have discussions amongst each other, along the way. This will allow for students to engage in more in depth discussion about literature.
My Students need technology in order to become more fluent, comprehensive readers.
There are a limited amount of mobile laptops in our building. We have to share laptops with 70 other students throughout the day. Therefore, we don't always have access to technology when we need it. Your donation of these 3 tablets will give students greater access to technology in the classroom on a daily basis.
