Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have the pleasure of teaching an amazing group of 3, 4, and 5 year olds in an urban neighborhood. My students are culturally and economically diverse.
They are engaged in active learning every day.
They have free choice learning centers every day. They utilize each center in our classroom and really enjoy the exploration.
One of my favorite things each day is observing the learning that goes on every day. I love to watch the light bulbs go off, or the concentration with each brushstroke on the easel.
My Project
Our children are growing up in a world where technology is everywhere. My students need iPads to keep up with 21st-century learning, but in a way that their hands-on learning in extended. There are many apps that reinforce letter recognition and sound recognition, as well as counting and number recognition. There are also apps that the children can use to listen to stories, where the words are highlighted reinforcing print concepts. iPads will also give the children an opportunity to listen to some of their favorite songs. It can empower them as they will be able to video record themselves reading, singing, etc.
