We're a public school in one of the most diverse areas of the country. Most of the students lost their belongings during the flooding. Not only did the students lose their belongings during the actual rain, the remaining unaffected students got flooded impacted during the following water release through the reservoirs.
We are proud to represent a multicultural community of learners. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds. Our school is a Title I school. Our school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in our district. Students speak a multitude of languages. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics. Schools have the responsibility of providing the best possible education if our students are to acquire a 21st century education. That includes a commitment to technology integration, all subjects and the arts. Our multicultural tapestry gives our school an appreciation of the global community, and so we hope you will support our projects with that in mind.
My Project
Nearpod is an interactive presentation and assessment tool that can be used to amazing effect in the classroom. The app’s concept is simple. A teacher can create presentations that can contain Quiz’s, Polls, Videos, Images, Drawing-Boards, Web Content and so on. The scholars can access a teacher’s presentation through a code. It is up to the teacher to then move the class through the presentation and let them interact with the media as they go. The app is ‘web based’ and is accessible on a ‘log in’ basis. This means that you can access your Nearpod account through any device that connects to the internet. The nice thing about this is that you can run and, more importantly, create your presentations on a computer. Ultimately, the real beauty of this app is that it enables you to connect with your scholars (digitally that is). This connection and the flexible nature of Nearpod means that it can be used in many different creative and innovative ways.
This project is designed to actively engage scholars as we learn about concepts through technology.
I like my scholars to go above and beyond the state requirements. Not only will the materials in this project help them understand the scientific concepts, but would also give them experience and exposure to cutting edge technology.
Technology is truly essential in many fields of study. It can serve the purpose of my scholars' experience in technology and encourage a variety of career interests. Giving my scholars access to new technology is an investment in their future as well as ours. Please help give my scholars the opportunity to learn science.
