See what Ms. Seaton is requestingMy students need a new pencil sharpener to keep their writing tools sharp, a document camera to immediately display their work will they share, and a treasure chest.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Each morning my students enter the classroom quietly, unpack for the day, turn in homework, sharpen 3 pencils and take their seats to get busy. This is a simple routine to follow but without a working pencil sharpener it makes the rest of the day challenging.
I work with a very diverse group of students with big hearts and a will to learn.
They come to school each day prepared to learn despite difficulties they may face outside of the classroom. Many of my students are economically challenged and have many disadvantages. Despite difficulties, they enjoy the learning environment that is being provided for them and my students enjoy playing the "teacher" with the class. My goal is to provide them with a learning opportunity that will maximize learning.
Along with having sharpened writing tools, my students will be able to use the document camera to present solution paths, model thinking and understanding of specific skills and give reflective feedback to quality work. Students will be able to use the camera for whole group sharing or small group work. The students will also be able to use the camera to work one one one with each other or while tutoring peers. The camera will serve as a visual aid to support and enhance learning. The treasure box will serve as a display of reward for their effort and consistent hard work. The size and color is perfect for the classroom.
The document camera will make a great impact on the lives of my students as it will enhance their ability to share and present class work, homework, special projects, or ideas.
The camera will also be used to record presentations that can be used for peer reflection or self reflection in order to provide students with quality academic feedback. Quality feedback will result in higher confidence in each individual student and a a more comfortable learning environment.
