I teach a class of 28 amazing second graders. They are loving, intelligent, kind, and funny. They come to school wanting to learn and become better citizens.
My students come from diverse backgrounds and most come from families at lower income levels.
Many of my students come from challenging home environments and have limited resources at home. Many of them do not have basic supplies to help them succeed. The one thing they all have in common is that they are eager to learn.
My Project
As a teacher, I like to integrate technology into my daily lessons. It is my goal to integrate STEM into my classroom. I would like to get three Chromebooks for my students so they will be able to conduct their own research for assigned projects and also research things that may interest them. We would be able to use the Chromebooks for both mathematics and science. After conducting research, they would be able to work on science projects, engineer buildings, and conduct science experiments. I believe that students must be motivated in order to learn. I would also use the Chromebooks for playing math games, teaching keyboarding, and reading books.
By having three Chromebooks in my classroom, I would be able to increase STEM learning through a mini computer lab for three to six students.
At this time, our school does not have a computer lab. A single chrome cart is shared among six classes of up to 24 students each. My students would be able to learn and use current technology with these Chromebooks. The best thing is that the Chromebooks will increase the level of learning and engagement for all students. I can use the Chromebooks to remediate students who struggle and enrich advanced students. The addition of a mini Chromebook lab in my classroom would be amazing! The STEM possibilities are endless.
