Howard Gardner identified eight types of intelligence; because he, like many educators, understood that students think and learn in many different ways. I strive to make sure I reach and provide an understanding of concepts and curriculum to all students.
I teach students who are diagnosed with Autism, AD/HD, Down Syndrome, and Learning Disabilities in an inclusive classroom setting in Georgia.
My students spend the majority of their day in a general education classroom with their non-disabled peers. They work very hard to learn and make a difference in our school. My students enjoy learning how to use new technology and use the use of technology is a key component of my teaching strategy. Using technology in the classroom has proved to be a perfect tool for learning.
My Project
The requested Apple iPad air tables will be used in the classroom to enhance my students' math, writing, reading, and social skills. This technology will motivate and engage my students in a more interactive learning environment. Teaching my students to use a listening station with headphones will be beneficial for progressing on their comprehension goals. The wireless printer will be used in conjunction with the iPad so that they can print their work in color.
My students often have difficulty using standard classroom tools (pencil, paper, desktop computer) due to difficulties with fine motor skills.
Having access to the iPad will allow my students to complete the same standards as their non-disabled peers, but in a manner in which they can manipulate and access the the content independently.
