My Students
My second grade students attend an inner city public school that consists of low-income families. Sadly, many of the students lack the resources and support to have technology experience at home. Despite their home environment, they are very inquisitive and have a strong desire to learn. School is the only place that offers opportunities for students to explore, interact, experience, and learn from each other. Unfortunately, with budget cuts, our schools are having difficulty providing the necessary provisions to help our students prepare and compete in the twenty-first century. I want to enrich our learning environment for more student interaction.
I am requesting supplies for my students to have this school year.
These supplies will give the students a sense of control over how their day will go and what they need to accomplish their daily activities. I want to ensure that my students have a variety of different learning opportunities that are in line with their individual learning needs. Differentiating activities to ensure that my students are successful means a lot. This will not only help my students to be able to work independently in class. It will increase their confidence in themselves which will last a life time.
My Project
My class has been chosen to work with a local college as a pilot program to integrate art into our Language Arts curriculum. My students will use these materials to create Language Art masterpieces in becoming their own authors and illustrators.
They will use the laptop to research, view and create images for their poetry and character study books.
The students will use the glue to bind their own books. The card stock is needed to create a sturdy book that will be used for ongoing projects. The other arts supplies will be used to create beautiful portraits for each page in their books.
