We want to use more technology in art class! There are so many apps that are perfect for exploring visual arts and we want an iPad so that we can access them!
I am the sole art teacher at my school and this is my fifth year in this position.
I teach all students kindergarten through sixth grade. We do not have an art fee for the students, therefore, there is very little funding for art supplies. School is the main place where my students are able to explore their creative side and make unique works of art in which they can take pride. I want to be able to show them all the different sides of the art world!
Studies have shown that kids who are provided exposure to various forms of artistic expression enjoy marked improvements in motor skills, coordination, concentration, and in other areas. The use of different tools and supplies, including technology, in art activities needs to be included in these various forms of artistic expression. The arts enable us to have experience we can have from no other source and through such experience to discover the range and variety of what we are capable of feeling.
My Project
My students would love an iPad to help inspire their creativity with all of the art applications available for the iPad. The Warhol D.I.Y. Pop Art app is awesome for my upper grades and the Faces iMake app would be fun for my younger students. The Aurasma app would allow me to "read" books to students on the iPad while I'm working with other students. ScreenChomp would also allow students to create their own tutorials for other students to watch! The options are unlimited with the iPad and visual arts and I want my students to be able to experience this!
My students work so hard in art class to make wonderful creations that they can be proud of.
One of the most unique ways to create and explore is through technology! My goal, as a teacher, is to lead them in the right direction and provide them all the supplies they deserve to use in art class. Your donations will be much appreciated by all of us involved!
