Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In our classroom we believe in learning the most we can in various situations to become active and responsible students and eventually successful adult citizens in society. We strive every day to do our very best and break all stereotypes that are associated with us.

I truly believe that they can and will succeed despite of what society, prejudice, or others might think about them.

I hope to affirm their strengths and give them the space to discover that they are capable of achieving their goals and meeting high expectations. My hope is to build a positive classroom culture where students strive for excellence every day, that take pride in their work, and that always have a "Champion" mentality. I know for a fact that my students will become critical thinkers, strong leaders, and positive members of their local and global communities.

My Project

The resources that are being requested are to allow my students more access to technology more times during the day. Many of them don't have access to a computer or Internet at home. School is the only opportunity where kids have the chance to explore the world wide web. I believe that requesting these iPads will allow us more time to complete research that is needed to broaden our common knowledge of the world around us. These tablets will be utilized in our centers and will be used during our literacy block to access our district's reading program. We will be better engaged in our online programs to reinforce what we practiced in literacy, better our fluency by listening to online books, and we can learn and practice our research skills more times during the day. Even as a remedial reading class, I know that my students will appreciate and utilize these resources to better their reading.

Technology is only being enhanced; however, my students don't have access to technology on a daily basis which puts them automatically behind their high income peers.

This project will allow my students the opportunity to use technology on a daily basis and will allow them the time every day, to stay up-to-date with the most recent apps and tools of our time.
