Our school is located in a rural area of Western North Carolina, we are a Title one school and our students receive free breakfasts and lunches each day. Our students receive fresh fruits and vegetables for snack each day. We have a a food closet that assist our students and their families on the weekends and over the summer to make sure that no one goes hungry.
My students are loving, inquisitive, full of energy and they enjoy using technology during the school day.
Our classroom is made up of seven students that have multiple disabilities, which include autism, Down's syndrome, communication disorders, self-injurious behaviors, vision issues, sensory issues, etc. Technology plays an important role in each of the students daily classroom activities.
My Project
The iPad will allow my students the ability to explore and investigate their world through games and learning activities each and every day in the classroom. My students are very visual learners and they need to see things in color, along with movement and shapes as they investigate the games and learning activities through the use of the iPad. An iPad will challenge my students to increase their eye hand coordination, increase their choice making skills and increase their time on task. By funding this project you will give seven very special students a chance to explore their world through an iPad.
