This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Health cannot be achieved by taking medication or observing a few restrictions. It can be achieved only by understanding what health is, and then applying this knowledge in every-day life. This is possible through health education which develops positive attitudes towards a healthy lifestyle.
My students are smart children from the inner city motivated to learn.
Unfortunately because of the increased population at our school the Health room was changed to a regular class room. Because of this, Health is now on wheels moving room to room. Some students live in neighborhoods where they do not go outside and play. It is essential for them to learn all ways to stay healthy. Too many children are over weight or do not understand how to stay safe. Health class is a must. Especially in an inner city public school.
My Project
Moving room to room on a timed schedule makes it difficult to have resources available. The mobility of the now!Board will make it easy to bring from class to class. Connecting this device to my personal laptop and projector will give each student the opportunity to see how they can use the Internet to find health resources. It will also help minimize copies in helping one of our goals to "Go Green". The now!Board will give us an opportunity to learn as a group. The use of technology gives lessons an extra push keeping all students engaged and makes learning fun.
As a Health Teacher, my job is important to each student I service.
Having this now!Board will help me give resources to the students that they can use outside of school. Also, I believe students having the ability to use the now!Board will keep them interested and excited about learning ways to stay safe and healthy. It will help them bring what is learned home with them to develop a healthy lifestyle.
